View Before & After GalleryDuring an IPL photofacial treatment, Optimized Light technology sends a broad spectrum of therapeutic light into the skin, which can simultaneously treat multiple skin conditions that create unwanted redness or brown spots. Once the light reaches its target, it is then transformed into heat energy. This energy targets concerns at both the surface level and deeper down.
Areas of hyperpigmentation in the epidermis, such as sunspots, sundamage, and acne scars absorb the heat energy, are broken down, and gradually slough off. Bothersome redness in the skin, as from broken capillaries, rosacea or sun damage, is targeted in a similar way. Next, new collagen fibers are produced, improving your skin’s elasticity and texture for a more youthful-looking, glowing skin tone.
Many patients are interested in fighting off the aging process through facial rejuvenation, and Dr. Eliopoulos offers several effective options. A facelift is the most aggressive technique, targeting the neck and jawline to restore youthful contours. Eyelid surgery is also an effective procedure for eliminating excess skin and fat pockets on the upper and lower lids. Non surgical options include laser assisted liposuction, which can tighten the neck and remove fat, and noninvasive radiofrequency treatments.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photofacial treatments can improve the appearance of sun damage, age spots, birthmarks, facial spider veins, rosacea, red spots, and other blemishes on the face. They can also be used to treat the neck, chest, and hands. For premier IPL Photofacials, Boston area patients should contact Eliopoulos, MD, Plastic Surgery and Med Spa. Step 1 - IPL. The first pass delivers intense pulsed light (IPL) to target broken capillaries and pigmentation concerns such as freckles, age spots, rosacea, and unevenness for a visibly brighter, even-toned complexion.
Step 2 - Laser. The second pass applies a fractional non-ablative 1540-wavelength laser that has a skin-smoothing effect to soften wrinkles, fine lines, and scarring.

There are many advantages to photofacial treatment with IPL technology. The entire procedure lasts approximately 30 minutes, and because there is no need for anesthesia, there is no prolonged recovery time. Boston IPL photofacial patients report that the treatment feels like a rubber band snap, although the level of discomfort during IPL treatment ranges from mild to moderate. A slight sensation of warmth in the skin may last for up to one hour after treatment. You may experience pinkness in the area for a few hours immediately after the treatment, but makeup can be applied, and normal activity can be resumed immediately. Pigmented spots being treated may also darken slightly for several days before fading.
For maximum results, three to six IPL photofacial treatments may be recommended, typically scheduled one month apart.
After your initial series of treatments, your results should be maintained with an effective home skin care regimen, sun protection, and a single photorejuvenation treatment every three to six months.
Some people will see improvements within one to two weeks of an IPL session. Deeper skin concerns may take longer to improve. The most dramatic results are cumulative, meaning they become visible after multiple sessions. You should see optimal results by approximately six weeks after your final IPL session. Maintain your rejuvenated skin by scheduling follow-up sessions every three to six months. Our providers can recommend a long-term treatment plan based on your individual needs.
IPL photofacial treats sun damage, age spots, texture issues, fine lines, wrinkles, and other common skin conditions. However, individuals with certain skin types or conditions may benefit more from a different treatment. This treatment is not as useful for dark skin. You must also stay out of the sun before and after your IPL treatment. To learn more about the advanced IPL photofacial process or other skin treatments, contact. Skin vibrance and resiliency start to improve shortly after the treatment. The results only get better with time as collagen and elastin production increases over the next three months. Most patients have three to six treatments spaced a month apart, although your individual treatment plan may vary based on your skin concerns.
